Given the weekly gladiator-ization of my Face Book Timeline by the legions of fanatical Scandal followers, I figured I'd throw in my two cents about a T.V. show I've watched only once in my adult life. From what I can glean from the comments on my FB Timeline in addition to my one time T.V. viewing, Scandal is a show that dramatizes what actually takes place in our nation's capitol on a daily basis. Sex, drugs, murder, deceit, witchcraft, factionalism, intrigue, and fraud are just a few of the many works of the flesh I see highlighted, magnified, and propagandized to the hearts and minds of the masses. I'm no prood (I may be a stick in the mud though), and don't live in a cave, so I can understand that it's human nature to be entertained and attracted to things that appeal to the flesh, but when the called out ones are doing more Timeline bomb droppin than the world then that's when we should hear the words, "Houston we got a problem!"
The scandal is not that Scandal is a good show that has a large following. The real scandal is that a large contingency of the following claim to be of the called out ones. Given that the church is experiencing broken marriages, dysfunctional family relationships, an explosion in single motherhood, an increase in male absence, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, drug usage, hatred, and a whole slew of other works of rebellion at the same rates and levels as the world, one would think that that would be enough to deal with, let alone watch it on the boob-tube too. All I'm saying is that in real life there's enough drama going on already. It makes for a less hectic existence for one not to drink this mess in on a mentally, emotionally, and spiritually fantastical basis. When we give ourselves over to Hollywood in a state of suspended belief, we open ourselves up for seed planting resulting in viruses that manifest themselves in real life. T.V. is a weapon of mass programing that is designed to steal, kill, and destroy! What I drink into my spirit will come out one way or the other. We are being Neurologically linguistically programmed! Look it up!
In short, if you need a scandal, search the Scriptures of the Bible. In the Bible there are more Scandals than you could shake a stick at. How about Israel searching out and fornicating with other nations because they were attractive, well dressed, and they were well endowed! Yet she increased her whoring, remembering the days of her youth, when she played the whore in the land of Egypt and lusted after her lovers there, whose members were like those of donkeys, and whose issue was like that of horses. Thus you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when the Egyptians handled your bosom and pressed "your young breasts.” Ezekiel 23:20-21 English Standard Version What about two Israelite women who made a deal to eat each others children during a famine caused by a siege on the city! And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow. So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son. And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh. 2Kings6:28-30 How about one of King David's sons letting bitterness grow in his heart because of what he viewed as a lack of judgement and injustice due to a situation with his sister Tamar. The bitterness grew until it moved him to rebel against his father and take the throne for a season eventually leading to his demise! And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him. And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel. 2 Samuel 15:5-6 These are only a few of the many scandals that line the pages of the Bible. The Bible is full of real people who lived real lives, and they were written about to guide us in our walk with the Father unto salvation! What would happen if the called out ones started blowing up timelines with bible scandals? May the grace of our lord be with you always!
