Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Sometimes we often forget how powerful our words can be. In world where social media is the craze of the day, the foundational lubricant that helps put the "social" in media are words. Words are a vital part of communicating and the messages in which we send and receive can be either positive or negative in nature. Positive words produces life and negative words eventually leads to death.
It behooves us to keep in mind that we have the power to instill life into our fellow neighbor with words of loving kindness. Words like, thank you, I appreciate that, your welcome, excuse me, you have a beautiful smile, I love you, or you're awesome, all help to encourage, acknowledge, and build up verses tearing down. We must make an effort to discipline our tongue and bring it under subjection. It may be a small part of the human anatomy, but it's a force to be reckon with. The tongue has broken marriages, destroyed friendships, ruined alliances, and brought down kingdoms. Similarly, it's revived souls, put enemies to flight, and has moved the God of heaven to action on our behalf. The tongue is small, but it's nuclear in strength.
In short, be careful about what you say because words create. They can create and produce life, or they can bring about death! Like feathers in the wind, once spoken, they can't be drawn back. If you don't have anything nice to say then be quiet! May the grace of Jesus Christ be with you always.
