One easy, simple, and effective way to make the switch to a better diet lifestyle is by planning cheat meals. Many assume that in order to make the changes necessary for the pursuit of optimal health and well-being to be realized, you have to be all in or else. This simply isn't the case. And it just ain't gonna happen in real life. Thus, it's better that you just plan for a vacation meal or two and incorporate the real world into your healthy lifestyle.
There are times in which you just want to go crazy, and eat something you know you shouldn't. Those among us who are hardcore may say that you should stick to your guns no matter what and not deviate, when in fact this may do more harm than good. Every now and then you should take a break, deviate, and enjoy a meal that you now should be eating. It's perfectly okay, and trust me, the worlds won't collide. I personally try to follow the 80/20 principle in that you eat healthy and nutritious 80% of the time knowing that there's going to be 20% life that just happens and we're not able to meet the desired goal for the day. You will go off the path for a moment. Just plan for it, enjoy it for what it's worth, and keep it moving.
So, take a time out every now and then, and enjoy a cheat meal!
