Maybe I'm the only one who ever thought of asking these questions.
Question! Why do we do things without knowing the true meaning of them? We simply go through the motions of traditions which were taught through generation with no explanation nor purpose of doing these things. Now, I have a few questions!
* What does a Christmas tree have to do with Jesus?
* What does Santa Claus have to do with Jesus?
* What does magical reindeers have to do with Jesus?
* What does December 25th (not his birthday) have to do with Jesus?
* What does putting gifts under a tree have to do with Jesus?
I have another question! If these things have nothing to do with Jesus, why as disciples of him do we celebrate it?..... If I'm not mistaken aren't all these thing idols?.... Our Heavenly Father only wants us to worship him and not his creation.
Well, at this time some may say, "Hey, I don't worship this stuff. I do worship God." This is what most of us say, but our actions speak something totally different. For example, we gather our family and friends together to sang hymns in order to help us in that holiday mood. It brings in that great festive cheer, but what are the songs really saying?
Gus and Kevin talk about our duty as believers to let the actions of our lives shine like the Son. And we're to live in such a way that compels men, women, and children to chase after the True Light of the World, Jesus Christ.
Being the light....
Today my wife was running late this morning. She asked me to take our daughter to school. I complied to her wishes. We stepped into the car, strapped ourselves in, and checked for any missing items that we may have needed for the day. While checking things off, I noticed the fogg was preventing me from viewing anything out the windows! Immediately I searched for anything I could find to wipe the fog! After scanning the area I found an old sheet of paper. Quickly, I made my way to each window clearing it so we could leave.
Figuring at this time the windshield was clear enough to drive, I was shortly proved wrong. Suddenly, I noticed the further I drove, the more the window started fogging up again. I put the defrost on high hoping that it would clear faster, but It didn't work!! Now, I'm on the road, can't see, and worried because I can't see out my windows. It looked really bad but there was a car in front of me. The best thing about it was that they had their lights on.
I followed those brakelights all the way to the school which happened to have been my destination. How crazy was it that the car I followed was going to the same place I was going?! Wherever their lights went, I went. If those lights moved suddenly to the right, I did too. If they went left, so did I! I was on the bumper of that car like Kool on Aide! Thank Heaven I made it to the school safely!
I dropped off my precious cargo at her school got back into the car and began my journey back home. While on the way home the windows became clear as crystal. At that time I was able to find my own way back home.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. John 16:7-9 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light (Jesus), that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
I relayed that little adventure to say this, us as the reflecting light of Jesus should be as the brake lights in this foggy world. There are people in the world looking for clarity to reach their destination of Salvation in Jesus Christ. We must make sure that our lights stay bright for family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers. Jesus is the only one that can set us free. We are the only lights that can direct them properly to their location until they are able to find there own way. Lets keep the lights bright in our lives to help others find their way to the father!
Kevin and Gus discuss whether the "children of the light" should participate in any way, shape, or form in the celebration of Halloween.
"Halloween in the church and the believers of Christ are doing it!?" I exclaim
As this month of October closes, the nation is preparing itself for the Fall festival known as Halloween. Its a festival where I see the lights go dark, especially amongst the "lights of the world," the Christians, and no one seems to notice it. Why is this so?
To many, Halloween is a very exciting time. Its a time where children and adults alike dress themselves in various costumes of all sorts. Some observers dress as monsters, fun characters, and others even put on the attire of their favorite athlete. The more adventurous ones gather their closest friends together to pay a visit to the local haunted houses, trails, and sites. They go for the thrill of being scared out of their wits while clinching to each other, even strangers, in fear. These individuals love the rush and excitement that Halloween brings, but who are these people exactly?
Many of them are us! Some of those who find themselves wrapped up in the velvet seduction of darkness are the ones who openly say, "We are followers of Jesus." We decorate his house (our local churches) with devils, ghosts, goblins, fairies, and fake spider-webs mixing the sacred with the profane, thus, bringing about confusion in the midst of the people of God. In the good intention of wanting to use this pagan holiday as a means to witness, we even have the audacity to fill God's yard full of pumpkins for his people to come pick up and carve evil faces in them. Once again this is us!!! The church of the Day! The Called out to live separately amongst the children of darkness! The salt and light of the world! The purified Bride of Christ!
In the book of John 1: 1-5, it said
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Now look at 2 Timothy 1:7-10,
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
Friends, Jesus is life not death as Halloween promotes. If we are children of the light why do we promote darkness? Why do we give the victory to evil forces? Why do we paint our children's faces in the image of the same evil spirits that wants to kill us? Why!? Man/Woman of god? Everything about Halloween points to death.
Jesus is life! Now as believers of the true Father, which Is Jesus (the light of the world), let us come out of darkness, and stay in his light.
In my view, pajama day at work, school, or in a public function is another small step torwards the break down of the fabric of decency...it's called incrementalism...and we're being socially trained to accept what previous generations eschewed...I don't see the "Elites" in pajamas -- Rants of a UnCool Father
I recently made a comment about pajamas, and the wearing of them in a public setting on Facebook. There's nothing wrong with a nice set of PJs, so don't get me wrong. And there definitely ain't nothing wrong with a beautiful wife wearing a nice set of PJs ;-), but here in the western world they're meant for private night time lounging, and not for public daytime display!
So, please keep the PJs at home and not at work, school, or at a family outing --okay!
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:7
I was told that S.A.H.M (stay at home moms) have it made. And I was taken aback by the comment at first, not really knowing how to respond. But, after some thought the pro's and con's came into my mind.
Pro: I was able to begin homeschooling my children, which allowed them to have an advantage over other children in reading and cognitive development. They have a superb grasp on concepts and comprehension. Wonderfully outstanding vocabularies. They are able to hold a conversation with virtually anyone if they choose. I was able to teach them the commandments, statues, judgement, of YAH (God) which is far more important than anything they will ever learn. I do not have to request off to take care of my sick children (with Micah we are always on the go..so me being available is awesome). I show up at the school unannounced to be able to check on my children and their teachers and volunteer if needed...the list goes on.
The cons: I spend most of my day alone. I do have a supremely super 6 year old, but he often wants to do his own thing. I do not have a lot of outside friendships. No lunch dates or shopping dates...along with that, we sacrifice financially. I don't always have the privilege of new shoes, nails and such..because I choose to stay at home...(although i love all of that). I place unrealistic expectations on myself. I think I should clean every room, every day and so on. So, do I have it made? depends on how you look at it. I guess I do. I am able to give my children one of the greatest gifts. Not clothes, not shoes, not new games...but ME...all of ME. A MOM!! #yup its long..but i had to get it out.
Geoffrey Canada gives an excellent Ted Talk about the issues, problems, and lack of innovation plaguing our public schools today. He points to issues such as the unwillingness to innovate or change that's tossing the education of future generations over an "Education Cliff." He says we must change in accordance with the latest research and data concerning the education of our children and that we can't be afraid to fail in the process. The results that he's personally witnessed in the students under his leadership gives testament to the power of innovation and the willingness to toss old paradigms to the side in favor of the pursuit of something better.
A great alternative to public schooling is Homeschooling. Listen to these homeschooling mothers as they discuss some of the benefits of educating their children in their homes.
Hey! My name is Gus and I like to keep things simple! I love Truth, The Father, talking about and encouraging others in their walk with Jesus and desire to be source a of salt and light to you and those seeking a place of refuge in a world of darkness!
