James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Many of us today are dealing with a host of addictions and habits that's hindering our walk with Christ. Smoking, drinking, partying, fornicating, etc, are all examples of the various flavors of addictions that we may find ourselves held captive by. These are all examples of sin and/or weights in our lives that is hindering our relationship with Christ and may ultimately bring us to our demise if not dealt with. Sin is fun for a little while, but after the thrill is gone, the after taste is bitter and leaves the victim in a state of misery and pain. It behooves us to avoid the many traps set by the enemy of our souls to bring us to destruction, but if you find yourself caught in a snare than remember that all things are possible through the power of Christ. You do not have to stay in your predicament. The Bible is the lampshade unto our feet, and is the source by which we navigate through this foreign land. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Addictions are powerful, but by becoming dissatisfied with your condition and making a conscious choice to want to give up your bad habits and sin, the potential for change can be achieved.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you! This is the biggest secret that is failed to be emphasized when trying to over come an addiction, bad habit, or sin. Once you've made the decision to quit, all hell will set its sites on you in order to bring you back to the dark side, but there's a secret. Once you've decided to stop and you've figured out why you want/need to stop, it becomes easier to just stop. But even bigger than that is the fact that after an intense state of withdrawal the urges seem to become easier to mange and deal with. A lot of times the urges just plain'o stop. I've experienced this myself and wouldn't be able to write it if had I not had this experience. I've recently gotten rid of an addiction that was bringing about my destruction, but through the power of Christ I've been able to resist the devil and maintain a pure and upstanding lifestyle. To God be the glory! You too can over come! Don't allow anyone to tell you otherwise! Just make the decision to stop while knowing that the intense urges will not last forever. Let go and let God do a work in you so that you may be a living testimony to His sustaining power! In Jesus name Amen! May the grace of our lord Christ be with you always!
