It's seems like everywhere we turn today the message of needing a better and more progressive model is consistently being marketed to us. Through clever and well thought out marketing campaigns, the idea that what you have is never good enough is being pushed in our faces at levels the likes of which could only be described as insane. Your cell phone you just brought today was out-of-date yesterday! Here let me "upgrade" ya! Hey, that computer you just brought was old news six months ago! Lets "upgrade" you to a better model. That brand new 2013 model car is really looking played out! How about we "upgrade" you to the year 2014! Those shoes, paaaleeesse! We gonna "upgrade" you to the latest fashions! That husband/wife of yours? You betcha, lets "upgrade" to a better model! How about that religion of yours? "Upgrade" to being spiritual, not religious! The Bible? Really? That's so primitive! Let's "upgrade" to science, man! Truth is relative. It's always progressing and improving. Ain't no absolutes. Get rid of those fables and step into the 21st century neanderthal! Humanity?! You got it! It's time for an upgrade. It's time to take evolution by the horns and take man to heights and places the likes of which we could never have imagined. Thanks to the revelations of science. We can now upgrade humanity to the next level of evolution. There's a trend emerging and gaining furious traction these days. It's known as trans-humanism. And Iron Man III is full of trans-humanist ideals and philosophy.
Trans-humanism is an area of research and study revolving around the idea of man taking control of his evolution and steering it in directions he deems worthwhile to puruse. It's quite simply an area of study incorporating many disciplines and philosophies to shape and produce the ultimate man--Man 2.0. Trans-humanism seeks to take man to the next level of existence by combining him with various tools in various ways to produce a better, super, or superior version of himself. The goal of Trans-humanism is to transition man from mortal to immortal. Iron man III is practically a two hour trans-humanist lust fest field with propaganda for the trans-humanist movement. Just about every inch of film reminds me that I'm out dated and I need to be transformed! I need to be "upgraded." For instance, Iron Man himself is pretty much a walking and talking trans-humanist dream in that Starks achieves a certain level of evolving through the use of a mechanical suit. Through the use of a machine he becomes a primitive manisfestation of the desire to be more than what our creator fashioned us to be. With the suit, Starks is practically invurnerable to various attacks and assaults that would annihilate a normal human body. He can fly. He can run fast. He can lift objects heavier than humanly possible. In addition, he can extend his mental capabilities and capacities through the use of artificial Intelligence, a super computer he calls Jarvis. He is a "Super Man." A regular man without his suit, but a better, a more superior man with the suit.
Other examples of trans-humanism can be seen in the villains of Iron Man III. Starks, a primitive version of trans-humanism ideals, is surpassed by a better version in the Mandarin and his gang of super soldier minions. The Mandarin and his cronies are a trans-humanist dream in that they are changed at a DNA level. Every aspect of their humanism has been altered and they are no longer human in the original sense. Through the hacking of their brains, they're able to change themselves at the genetic level giving themselves abilities not natural to ordinary humans. They run faster than normal. They have higher tolerances of pain. They can regenerate lost limbs. They can blow themselves up and piece themselves back together. They can breathe fire. They can lift heavy objects. They're almost immortal. And they can even glow in the dark! What a deal! Thus, they look human, but they aren't human in the truest since. Meaning they are something other than what the creator has made. They have transformed from ordinary human to an upgraded and better evolved human.
Lastly, the trans-humanist movement at the upper levels acknowledge in their writings and reports that there is some sort of spiritual connection according to top trans-humanist researcher Tom Horn of RaiderNewsupdate.com and we can see this played out subtlety in the movie as well. For instance, the villains almost seem like their demonically possessed with the red eyes and evil empty stares. They seem like hollowed versions of their former selves, acting more like emptied vessels under the control of malevolent spirits. The fact that the head bad guy has dragon tattoos on his chest and can breath fire doesn't really help his cause either. And according to his mythology he gained his powers in the "valley of the spirits" from a crashed alien ship, which is interesting in that Starks continues to have issues related to the Alien attack in the Avengers movie. In short, their seems to be some sort of gods, aliens, and demonic connection in the movie that's hinted at that is discussed in the leadership of the trans-humanist movement.
Regardless of where you stand or what you think about on the issue of trans-humanism, I must say that Iron Man III is a must see. If you're like me and can appreciate a nice action flick than this movie's for you. Great effects, plenty of action, and a good story line all come together to produce a symphony of pure, epic visual and mind numbing delight! Enjoy it for what it's worth. Ain't going to change the world, but at least you can escape reality for a hours. I give it five out of five stars! Let me know what you think. Leave me your comments or creative criticisms!
