"Can you feel it!"
"Do you have that tingly feelin flowin through those vains?!!"
"You know what I'm talkin about!"
It's officially time for me to pull out the Barry White, put on my "Hue Heffner" robe with slippers, and break out the "cheap last minute purchased at the gas station because I forgot how fast the big V day was approaching" Champaign!
With Valentines day fast approaching, I've been reluctantly forced to think about relationships, love, and ways to revive a once vibrant, intimate, and close relationship gone stale.
If you've been in any type of intimate relationship over the course of your life that's lasted more than a few seasons, it's pretty much a given that at some point you've had the experience of going through a season or phase of "staleness." You know. That phase where the luster, newness, or excitement of the initial getting together has worn off, died down, and come to a simmer.
It's not unusual for this to happen, nor should one be overly alarmed if they're to find themselves in this position. Yet, it should provoke you to take some assessments, give thought to, and urge you to take note of and heed adjustments needed in order to keep some adventure and excitement in the relationship so that it's one of delight verses dread.
Once a relationship hits the stage of dread and darkness it's almost certain that you can kiss that baby good bye if contingency measures aren't put into action.
Well, what's one to do in order to get the love juices flowing?! Give chase! Yeah! Make the decision to pursue your lover like you did in the beginning, or initial phase of hooking up. Make the decision to chase him, or her as if your very life depended on it. Seek them with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and don't ever think about stopping until the other person has no other choice, but to be filled and moved with love and passion to reflect back what's being poured into their very soul. Make the choice to chase them like a lion chasing a Water Buffalo on the Sahara Plains!
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Similarly, I believe the same can be said about our relationship with our Creator. Sometimes there are phases in our relationship with God in which it seems more like we're just going though the motions of religion, verses experiencing the life of relationship. When this happens we're admonished to think on our former times of delight, remember our initial love for Him, and to pursue Him above all else in our lives that may have crept in and taken precedence and residence in our hearts over Him.
We're admonished to seek Him and His Dominion first, to give Him our hearts, minds, soul, and strength without reservation and in that investment the return is exponentially more than can be imagined. To God be the glory! Life is too short to just go through the motions. Make the choice to pursue your Creator like never before in these treacherous times, enjoy your life, and move to live in perpetual peace, power, purpose, and passion! Give Him chase! And He will come near, and you will know it!
One way that I've found useful and use to chase and pursue God is by listening to His Word, the Bible, in audio format.
