Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Ecclesiastes 7:8
Patience is definitely a virtue, and I'm definitely not liking the fact that it's often a painful process learning how to develop, hone, and live out such sought after habits. Just when you think you've reached the pinnacle of perfection when it comes to certain aspects of your spiritual walk it can be devastating to the ego to learn, or realize that there's still much growth and ground to be gained. Life is definitely a journey as they say, and it's in the process of learning and growing that we're to hone the fruits of The Spirit to maturity, or perfection.
We live in a world designed to bypass the need for the development of such virtues as patience. We live in a "right now," "instant," and "I ain't waitin fo'nobody" kind of world that has done an untold amount of damage to the people cultured in such an atmosphere. Due to our lack of patience lives have been lost, suffering experienced in many families, and devastating circumstances have been waged on whole communities. From a Christian perspective we're called to a higher standard of maturity when it comes to the ability to endure hard times with patience, and I admonish you to learn this virtue as quickly as possible, for I'm a living witness that life can be hard when you don't learn the lessons, and pass the test that we're supposed to in life in order to advance to the next level in our journey of progression of faith to faith.
I recently reunited with my once estranged and separated wife, and it's been quite a journey in learning how to come into unity. Frankly, I just can't seem to get over some things and am afraid that my inability to move on and let some things go has all but destroyed any ounce of hope for any type of cordial relationship and mature communication. The Almighty has indicated to me to Wait Patiently for Him to move, yet this simple command seems most difficult to a guy like me.
Patience is definitely not my strong suit which is probably why I'm in this situation in the first place. And it's been indicated to me that I'm to hold my peace and wait with patience and not anxiousness.
Anxiousness is a sign of lack of faith, and I've been waiting in the wrong state for too long of a time. It's essential that we remember that God loves us, wants nothing but the best for us, and that no matter what happens in our lives He will make sure that what's meant for our bad and destruction can be used for our good if we humble ourselves to Him and let go of the chains that we allow to keep us tethered to darkness. So, I type these words to encourage you as well as remind myself that all things work to the good of those who are part of the called out and seek to live lives of righteousness and purity as best as they can. Righteous people fall several times in a day, but get up, and we all have some deep inner issues that's not going to be uprooted and removed without a fight! Thus, hunker down and gear up for some serious spiritual surgery! It's going to hurt a whoooole lot!
Be encouraged! And remember along with me that our Heavenly Father loves us very much and is working in our lives whether we realize it or not! May the grace of Christ be with you always! Don't give into darkness, and remember that it's about you, your spiritual walk, and your relationship development with The Almighty and not about others actions, thoughts, or feelings towards you. We must give others grace as we've been given, and are given on a daily basis. Work to strengthen your faith, get fit in all human areas of endeavors, and have fun in the process!
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; --Romans 12:12 Be patient in times of trouble. Hold your peace.
