In relation to health and wellness, one overlooked area that effects us spiritually, emotionally, and physically is harboring unforgiveness and other deadly emotions. Harboring deadly emotions like anger, anxiety, apprehension, depression, loneliness, agitation, bitterness, and unforgiveness can effect our bodies in a number of ways. Our hormones, mental/emotional state, chemical make up can all be effected by these deadly emotions, which in turn can lead to hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diseases related to the immune system. In addition, emotions like fear have been linked to heart palpitations, irritable bowel syndrome, tension headaches and other diseases. Wellness isn't only about what we eat, but it's about what we think and feel as well. The bible states, " A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. Proverbs 17:22" clearly showing the relationship between physical and emotional man. As a man thinks, so is he! So, it's important that we deal with deadly emotions like anger and unforgivness in order to be a clean and pure vessel in which the Holy Spirit can dwell and use for the advancement of His Kingdom. We must learn to not sweat the small stuff and to let the offenses of others go as to not bring malfunction and disease upon ourselves. We have to learn to live life with margins so that we don't always live close to the edge of mental breakdowns. In addition, we should incorporate the Biblical model of resting every seventh day and taking a complete rest from our normal, hectic, and stressful routine way of life. Live and let live! Incorporate a big bucket of laughter in your life everyday! Doctors orders! Oh, and don't call me in the morning either!
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? Matthew 6:25-27
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: 6-7
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:30
