A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished. Proverbs 22:3
In review of the many themes, subjects, and topics found in the pages of the Bible, one theme that seems to be becoming of more importance by the minute is the theme of preparedness. Given that we're living in the last days, the Bible diligently implores us to be sober, vigilant, and prepared for hard times. We're not to be anxious, fearful, or worried to death, but wise as to the times we are living in.
In looking at the current events of the day and the headlines, I think it's safe to say that we're not in Kansas anymore! We are to follow the examples of the saints, called out ones, and the lives of the many different individuals that have come before us showing us how to live and overcome our enemy in an insane and spiritually bankrupted world. Three examples that I think exemplified what it meant to live in preparation for hard times aware of their surrounding circumstances in total submission to the call on their lives are Noah, Job, and Joseph.
In conclusion, amongst the many themes and topics found in the Bible, preparedness for hard times is definitely one that we all as the people of God should be knowledgeable about. We are to be like the sons of Issachar knowing the times. We are to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves, and are to live accordingly. We're admonished to be good stewards living out of abundance to help others and perform the work of Christ, feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, visiting the prisoners, and aiding the widows. May the grace of our Lord be with you always!
