But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel1:8
In contemplating the coming New Year and what my focus will be, I've resolved, or purposed in my heart to become more mature in Christ, to stop allowing the enemy to play with me like a Yo-Yo, and to remain pure and undefiled. Yes, yes, getting healthy, getting in shape, and saving money are still at the top of the list like every year preceding this one that I can recall, but my priorities have shifted to resolving to the pursuit of the things of Christ first.
In looking at the times that we're living in, it's evident to me that times are getting harder much faster, and I've basically come to the realization that I NEED JESUS! Now is not the time to be riding the fence trying to be luke-warm, for if you're neither hot nor cold you will be "spit out." And there ain't no point trying to tip toe to Hell thinking you own your way to the Pearly Gates when you might as well just go ahead and bust the Gates of hell wide open! So, resolve in your heart to remain pure and undefiled in an evil and dirty world that seeks nothing more to make sure you get as dirty as humanly possible. Sin is fun for a lil'while, but the fruits are soon to turn bitter and leave you depressed, oppressed, and heavy laden with burdens and weights that are designed to bring you unto destruction. Purpose in your heart like Ruth to not let death separate you from the love of God. Be like the psalmist who said that he ain't gone do like the evil doers, but he's going to live as right as possible! Similarly, Daniel and his friends decided to not go along with the King's ways and they were tested with being thrown in a burning furnace and lions den full of hungry lions to see if they really meant what they had purposed.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Savior of my soul, we must purpose to hold on and hold out! May the grace of Jesus be with you always!!!
where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me. 18 When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. Ruth1:17-18
I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. Psalm119:106
Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. Psalm 119:115
