In looking at the fast pace at which our lives are lived it's no wonder that many of us are experiencing an array issues and problems with our health. There seems to be no end to the deadlines and appointments that are placed on our schedules. So much so that if it weren't for the Starbucks of the world, many of us wouldn't have the physical energy to meet our daily obligations and responsibilities. As a result of our stressful, rat race, hamster in the wheel way of living, just about every aspect of our human existence is affected. Our bodies are worn out and out of balance hormonally. Our minds are filled with worry, fear, and anxiousness. Our spirits are in a state of torment due to a lack of understanding and harmonic relationship with the Creator. Our relationships are dysfunctional and broken down. Our communities are fragmented and unfulfilling. Our towns, cities, and states all hustle and bustle, but to what end?! What is it that we are trying to achieve with our busy, yet non-productive way of living? Where are we going?! What are we doing?! Thank the Father in Heaven for rest!
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Sabbath by definition simply means to rest. It means to take a break. To pause like a period. One of the things I like about Psalm 23 is that it paints a beautiful picture of rest in the mist of a turbulent and dangerous world. The Father has provided an appointed time in which we as his creation can step into an alternate dimension of rest, peace, prosperity, and spiritual restoration. No matter what you're going through in your life remember that it's okay to take a break and just do nothing. yeah, I said it! Do nothing! That goes against everything we are trained to do and be in today's world given that the mantra of the day is that we always have to be doing something. From the time you get up till the moment you hit those sheets at night, you should be checking off your "honey-do" list. Well, they can keep that list. The Creator set the example in Genesis when He separated the seventh day as a "chill out day!" So, who am I to argue with His goodness?! In all your doing remember to take a real break and do nothing except exist. It will help you keep your health on many levels ensuring a vibrant and healthy quality of life. Resting will help you keep your wits about you, and maintain a stable mindset in an unstable and hectic world! So, just sit back, take some time to enjoy the fruits of your labor and love your family! You deserve it! May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Genesis 2:3
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Mark 2:27
Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion Ecclesiastes 5:18
